[Community Contribution] Learning, Motivation, and Theory

Jason’s Story is one of the unique experiences which inspire me to keep on learning new things. I haven’t experienced a change in career like him but I can definitely resonate with him as my mom also had a career change after 20 years of her school. It is definitely a difficult thing to do, but learning is never stopped at a certain age. Both his story and my mom’s story of coming back to school after all these years are a testimony to that. I also appreciate his understanding of the ‘false’ stories we might keep in our minds and how we need to ‘unlearn’ them. I have definitely experienced those in my academics as well as in my internships too. It might seem counterintuitive at first, but ‘unlearning’ false stories is ‘learning’ something new and giving space to more learning.

Shrey’s Post about his learning experience is very fascinating and relatable to me. Just like him, I had few concepts and subjects I used to dislike but I learned to understand their importance in what I already like and know about. I think that connection with our experiences is very critical and could be a key in our learning process. I also resonate with him about experiencing the learning activities along with the instructor. This is crucial because it gives a chance to not only learn the material, but also discover something new increasing our interest and curiosity in the subject. I have personally experienced this combined strategy of learning designs since childhood in a lot of activities and that has helped me to always effectively learn the material and also increase my concentration which I struggled with initially.

Thank you for sharing your experiences! 🙂
